You may get more vandalism with anti-theft bolts in the HV Battery as would be thieves get frustrated.

I'm guessing any type in vandalism they would do would cost less than $9000 to fix, especially if they don't want to make noise and get caught. I've looked into wanting to install these tamper proof bolts on the gen 4. However, I can't verify that they are the same. I asked the local Toyota service center too, but they didn't know. Do you know if they are the same for the gen 4? And how do you get to the battery in the 4?

Regarding stats, take a look at my post #26 on this thread. There's a full report from nicb in 2012. Essentially, I'm trying to seek out answered to your questions in this thread, but it seems like only the theft market and insurance companies know the answers.

Some people steal things simply because they can. Usefulness to them doesn't necessarily matter.

And why people think that just because something is left unattended for a while, it's free is beyond me. :X3:
That's why I like these "Bait car" type programs on tv.

    Yes, it happened to me.

Stolen on 09/18/17 and recovered 09/30/17 about 10 miles from home.

Sorry and wow I'd "like" it but I do not. Hard to do.
We lost a 84 Camry years ago and replaced with a 83 Cressida wagon.
Still wish we could have got the cassette tapes from the trunk.

So was the OP's car totaled? Looked like the left rear suspension might have been crushed.

Lived the Reagan Bush Iran Contra BCCI years in Foggy Bottom. Not the good ole days.

Lose all your Creedence? What a shame.

I'm sorry to hear your Prius was stolen, I'm glad you got it back and hope that it wasn't harmed. Almost like losing a family member...

Not to be frivolous, but it seems that Prii and similar small, eco-friendly vehicles would be the last on the target list for car thieves around D/FW, considering the preponderance of BFGHs around here.

I got myself a signal blocking pouch off Ebay to put my keys in at home so nobody can amplify the signal and open the car on the drive. It works too.

Some thieves have specific targets, but others just look for available opportunities.
