    Dear all,

I have an extra high voltage battery pack with about 15,000 miles on it. I was going to sell it on ebay, but I thought I would see if any of my fellow Priuschatters would be interested in buying it first. It is in great condition and came out of a 2004 Prius. I will sell it for $500 OBO + shipping. Please let me know - thanks!

Well, that would make an interesting conversation piece sitting on the coffee table.

No - thankfully I didn't total my Prius. I bought this from a spare parts dealer with the intention of wiring in parallel with the original, but have decided to go back to school which will necessitate selling my Prius, so I thought I'd start by getting rid of the extra battery. Any takers?

The battery is rather discharged (I have not checked the potential on it, but it hasn't been used in a year or so), so you will have to recharge it before hooking it up to your car - but its shelf life should remain at the stated value, which I believe is around 150,000 miles - right?

Toyota's general recommendation is to charge the battery by running the car at least once every 6 months. That is NOT to suggest that the battery doesn't have some good life, but I would, personally, want it bench tested before buying it. That said, $500 is cheap.

leaving the battery discharged is not a good idea. it should be charged up as soon as possible

    All,

Thank you all for your comments - I really appreciate them! I went ahead and listed the item on ebay, but put the 'Buy it Now' price at $500, so if anyone on this forum is interested in buying it, just follow this link to the listing. Take care!

It would be cool if it was as simple as installing more batteried for more EV mode.... I don't think it is... is it?

Not quite as simple as that, but not all that complicated either. It has to be installed in a "hidden" manner, but it's not that hard.
