Hi everyone. Please guide me what should be the appropriate tire pressure for
    215/50/R17

And right now the tire pressure is 35psi.
But I feel little bumpy on breakers. When I google it and asked some friends they told me to keep 30psi.

These tyres and rims are aftermarket. IMG20181024141055.jpeg IMG20181024141044.jpeg

You might get a better ride with lower pressures, but tyre wear will be greater, and traction will suffer. Best to go with TOYOTA's recommendations. That said - many people have increased or reduced their pressures - you could find 146,140 opinions on PriusChat - one per member!!

There is a placard inside one of your front doors with the correct pressures for YOUR CAR - it was put there by TOYOTA, and appears to be a little different depending on where you live.

I would not go below 35 psi. Reason is, most people don't keep up with tire pressures regularly, plus they check/add when the tires have been driven and are hot which adds 3-5 psi to the cold reading. To convince yourself, fill them up, then wait until the next morning and check again before driving off. Personally, I keep 42/40 in my 17-inchers. Finally, reset the TPMS after each top off.

When I google it. That's what I found on official website. According to this one.
    I should have 33psi Screenshot_2018-10-19-16-14-26-75.jpeg

Why the regional differences on recommendation by TOYOTA for the same car??? Does anyone have any insight on this?

Yeah who knows. Toyota is a big corporation, could be different regional managers with different ideas, or regional road conditions, regulations?

Lot of variations like that. Toyota Canada for example says to replace the brake fluid every 3 years or 48K kms. But Toyota USA, it's apparently good forever.

Yeah, this is why I stick with 15's. I keep the low pros on the wrx.

I wouldn't go by that website - they can't even spell "PRIUS" correctly. Go by your Owner's Manual or better still, the Placard attached to your car.

By the way - are you talking about a Gen 4 PRIUS? Your profile shows that you've got "Vehicle:2014 Aqua"? But I don't know if they have 17" wheels - not in Australia.

In North America the official 17" tire size is 215/45R17, and both the Owner's Manual and the decal in the driver's door opening say 33 psi for front, and 32 psi for rear. What confuses things a bit is that you have 215/50R17 size. Up to you. My 2 cents, try 35 psi, all 'round? It'd be good to get some valve caps too; just get plastic ones, metal ones can corrode and get stuck on.

The PK in your avatar stands for Pakistan? Maybe spell it out, save respondents having to research it.

Thank you very much . And yes PK stand for Pakistan.
Right now 35psi in all tyres. And it's going good.

    Hi hassan!
I have exact same tires as you that too aftermarket and rims were genuine not aftermarket. As per car sticker i go with 32psi in front and 30 at rear.

Hows your experience of having 35 in all 4? Please share with me. I live in Islamabad and travel frequently on motorway, gt road as well

Well majority of the time I travel to Islamabad via M2 and sometimes GT rd. Few days back I lowered them to 33psi. It's little more smoother than before but with little drag.

35 would be good if going via M2 frequently. Otherwise 33 for GT Rd. But in my opinion I think 33 would be the best. 35 will make it a little bit bumpy.

The most important thing is that tire pressure must be accurate. Go for automated pressure machines.

Do share your experience after trying. Thanks

I travel via motorway too, don't opt anymore for GT Road.. but 35 to me, seems a bit on the high note.. I think 33 would be better.

What average do you get if you put your Prius on cruise mode on Motorway with AC on?

What tyre company you are using?

The higher the pressure the better the gas mileage and the longer the tires last. On my stock 17” rims I run 38 front 37 rear which is 5psi above recommendations.

I do not really notice much of a difference in bumps.

What about high speeds? Around 100 mph.
When I inflated them to 36psi. Mine experience wasn't good.

Around here driving any faster than around 80MPH(miles per hour) and they put in you jail and take your license, even 80 is pushing it. ;) I routinely drive 75+mph and don't have any issue.

Ha ha ha... Here in Utah, 80 mph in Rurual areas is the posted speed limit. We like to push it to 85 mph and beyond ;)

On another note, I came here looking for proper tire pressure for my new 17" Forged rims/tires P215/45 R17

    Sidewall says 51 psi
Door for Old 15" says 36 front 35 Rear
Install paperwork for new Wheels/Rims says 33 front 32 Rear.

Heard in a few places, to split the difference.

Spoke with my tire installer, He said he wouldn't go any higher than 36 psi because anything beyond would be a serious rough ride.

So, i suppose I'll try 36 psi.... unless someone here has better ideas :D
