    Re: April 2005 MPG Averages

All refuels for the month are now done. My figures are:

    Tank Miles: 2171.2 miles
    Total Miles: ~47,000 miles
Tank MPG: comp: 53.3 mpg, calc: 49.5 mpg
Lifetime MPG: comp: 52.1 mpg, calc: 48.5 mpg
    Avg Temp: 40's to 80's.

Springtime is continuing to be unusually cool. Temps will once again be down into the mid 40's tonight. 8) I'll enjoy this as much as I can.

Only one tank of gasoline purchased. DW submits mileage (professional) for re-imbursement monthly. Total miles was less than 700 (she was gone for a full week to the Netherlands) with something over 200 miles for re-imbursement. The month of May should be a more regular month. I have explained that the Prius can go a lot further on a tank of gasoline but I believe DW has a difficult time ignoring the flashing bar.

    April 30 fill.

    Tank Miles: 410.8
    Total Miles: 6451
Tank MPG: 54.6 (best since first tank)
    Lifetime MPG: 44.98
    Avg Temp: 50s
    Price of Tank: $17.06
    Price per Gal: $2.26

Moderate weather, but I paid more attention to tire pressure after the rotation. Now the Prius is the preferred work car, going to work 3 to 4 days a week. My local bus company announced it is buying new equipment rather than shutting down, a scenario which first got me on the Prius waiting list a year ago. Yes, it would have arrived last Friday if I hadn't bought somewhere else 7 months ago.

OK, might as well post this.

~1700 road trip. Columbia to Hartford CT. I-77->I-81->I-78->somewhere in NY->I-84. Similar route back, although next time I should make sure I'm not being taken into Manhattan by the NAV and through the Holland Tunnel. Interesting, but slow.

    <14 hour drive up>
    1st tank: 46MPG (to VA/WV border)
    2nd tank: 54MPG (to Hartford)
<no lower than 53MPG while driving around Hartford during the week>
<14.5 hour drive back: hello, NYC>
    3rd tank: 50MPG (to WV/VA border - to same station as 2nd tank fill-up)
4th tank: 47MPG (bought 60 miles from home because it's a cheap zone)

Terrain a big issue: same gas that got 54MPG to Hartford only got 47MPG back toward Columbia. 10% ethanol bought in CT didn't hurt MPGs a LOT...

    Here's my most recent tank...

    Mid April through early May

425 miles... could have gotten more but I put gas in it before the money got spent elsewhere
    MFD: 45.3 MPG
Put in 8.68 gallons (I knew I could have waited longer!)

I was keeping it at 47-48 until my husband took it out to "play" with it...

My wife did 51.4 for 564 miles for her first tank on her new 05. The second tank is nearly to 500 miles at 53.2 MPG. She is starting to adjust her driving.

My tank was at 59 MPG at 273 miles but I dorked out and left it in ready mode for five hours in front of my job office and toasted it down to 54.6. Now at 480 miles, it's back up to 55.6 MPG. What a dufus.

My last tank was my best of all time. The display read 55.3 and the calculated was 54.4. About half of the 380 miles was on the freeway from Los Angeles to Ojai and back last weekend.

On the way to work today on the new tank of gas (I got gas on the way home yesterday about 1 mile from my house) I made a lot of lights. The display reads 65 mpg right now. Of course, there is only 13 miles on this tank, but is sure is fun to see.

    Re: April 2005 MPG Averages

This month there was a trip to Alameda. That is over 1000 miles round drip. We were fully loaded with four people and all of our crap for a long weekend. So I wasn't expecting the mileage to be very good. Although I got about 42 MPG. My sister drove a shorter distance in a F-150 and payed over TWICE what I paid for gas. :D I was able to get all of the consumption bars to max out on my trip down hill on "The Grapevine" I should have took a picture! I hope to break 50 MPG on this new tank of gas.

My son has started his drivers training in my new car. :cussing: he tends to blow any mileage that I have squandered. For some reason my wife won't let him drive her RSX Type S. But I am going to buy an old mini-pick up soon, and I will get my mileage back up to competition levels.

    Happy Hybriding!

    Re: April 2005 MPG Averages

    Hello All,
Just filled up our new Prius for the first time so it is still in the break-in period. At fill-up 772 miles 9.05 gallons $19.00 tank. Car computed mileage was 48.5 mpg and had been rising steadily towards the end of the tank.
We were so lucky as we received our Prius 4 days after we asked our dealer in Sylacauga, AL to find us one.
