Presently new to and driving a Gen1 (classic) and maybe taking the leap to Gen3, while still lacking a good knowledge base of the Prius family of feature and expectations.
Going to look at a (advertised) 2010 Prius next week. Been damaged but suppose to be repairable. Not much other info. The picture of the engine compartment indicates it has the larger engine, so that would give the assurance that it is a Gen3?? Also, the gear selector is in the console bridge??
From what I have read and seen on YouTube, the Gen3 has a series of configurations that were optional. What do these include?? I notice that there is a EV mode button, so does that mean I could benefit the same as when the EV mode is applied to the Gen2 cars?? Does the Gen3 have any additional battery capacity? Or can that be added (without getting into plugin charging mods)?

    Thanks,
    Steve

And I might also ask about "What is the Deal" on the 2010 HV battery. Seems they are different from the Gen2.

This question might get more attention in the main gen III forum.

I very much prefer the interior and exterior styling of the Gen III

All models in the 2010 line have the same equipment, except that the Model V (Five) came with a slightly different suspension, 17" wheels (with 215/45 tires) and a different steering wheel setup (fewer turns, lock-to-lock and a brushless electric motor for power assist). The Model IV (Four) was the one with the optional solar roof.

Otherwise, all had the same ICE, same transaxle, same HV, same body panels.

Other options include upgraded Audio (JBL), Navigation, reverse/backup camera, SKS with push to start ignition.

No, not all 2010 MY cars are created equal. There were two upgrades in 2009. Early production cars do not have the USB connector in the center armrest. In November 2009 Safety Connect became available. Those cars will have a black plastic panel on the ceiling by the rear view mirror. The model lineup is:

    Prius II
Prius III (base, nav option, solar option (solar roof & nav))
Prius IV (base, nav & solar)
Prius V (base, nav & Advanced tech). AT includes radar cc, Lane Keep Assist, parking assist
