Are Hyundai MPG displays accurate?

    Ideally, you’d want electric for city driving and gas for highway.

    Wait a minute, that’s sounds like a PHEV.

    I already own PRIME. I entertained an idea of buying the second car that is longer range PHEV or pure BEV. But in the end, none of the option available would work for me. For one thing, it cost more to run on electricity than gas here. And I would have to shell out at least $2K for installing L2 charger. Plus, we really needed something big to replace minivan.

    Oh it's definitely a case-by-case situation.

    Canada finally has a federal incentive program (Effective May 1) and it's a point-of-sale rebate up to $5,000 ($2,500 if battery size is smaller than 15kWh so PHEVs are included).

    Yes, the Sienna was a V6. IIRC the Sienna has the lowest drag coefficient of a minivan - 0.30 or 0.31, which definitely contributed to good fuel economy.

    When we bought 05 Sienna new, I was comparing it with Honda Odyssey which I think had better fuel efficiency. We ended up with Sienna, because it was and still is the only minivan that was bailable in AWD.

    The Sienna was briefly available with a 2.7 litre 4 cylinder from the Venza.

    The run flat tires that were OEM did no favors for fuel economy.

    The Odyssey had comparable fuel economy through 2004, but then the next generation got heavier and fuel economy worsened slightly, according to my dad who works at a Honda dealership. That is, until the 2011 redesign of the Odyssey where it again took the lead.

    Hm, I wasn't aware of that. I wonder how much better fuel economy the 4 cylinder would've gotten compared to the V6.

    For the Odyssey, was it only the Odyssey equipped with the 9-spd auto and cylinder deactivation (i.e. Touring) or all Odyssey models?

    The 4 cylinder in Canada got a combined rating of 9.1L/100km (25.8 mpg) while the V6 got 9.8L/100km (24.0 mpg). The weight difference between a LE 4 cylinder and an LE V6 was 90kg or just shy of 200 lbs. The V6 could tow 3500lbs but the 4 cylinder was not rated for towing.

    In Canada, the LE 4 cylinder and base V6 were $1,000 apart. The LE 4 cylinder vs. LE V6 were $4,600.
