    Who drove these cars and what were the conditions? Grocery store gas? 2010 fit auto, mobil 1 synthetic, tire air 42/40 consistantly getting a combined 34 to 38 mpg top tier gas. 14,000 on the odometer. prius worst mpg in first 2,500 miles 46 mpg.

    Assuming you see it coming and have space to maneuver. Taking into account driver reaction time and the sitting car's inertia, you likely couldn't avoid a serious accident sitting at light doing it or not.
    It might mean the difference for a fender bender, and if near misses at lights were a weekly or even monthly occurance, I wouldn't FAS then. But they aren't.
