"Obvious" only to people who don't buy organic food who are taken in by ignorant people making wacky comments.

Organic foods are first and foremost about ORGANIC FOODS, no chemicals such as pesticides, no antibiotics. It's what defines ORGANIC FOODS.

    Here's what it looks like.

And it can taste like whatever you want thanks to the wonders of chemistry of artificial flavors...even chicken.

I don't know Shin, the one located in Union Square in NYC was pretty amazing. I met quite a few models there when I lived in the city a few years ago.

Can you quantify that or is it another of your wacky personal opinion responses we are so (not) fond of¿
In your opinion, of course. Taken with multiple salt grains and a healthy dose of mushrooms.

No by definition, US Agriculture, state ag departments, what constitutes ORGANIC FOOD has to do with no pesticides, hormones, antibiotics etc.

Even if the claims of individual health were dubious, what about the health of the environment? Whether or not all those pesticides are good for you, they're definitely not good for the soil, the water, or the other 99.9% of the lifeforms on the planet.

The article in question was about nutritional value not about health value of organic foods. Not sure why the article's authors thought there would be any significant nutritional difference in an organic peach vs. a pesticide laced peach but their result says more about the author's lack of critical thinking skills and nothing about why smart people eat organic food to save on ingesting carcinogens and other unhealthy chemical additives.

Nope Organic is by Dept. of Ag (State and Federal) definition having to do with chemical content, pesticides, synthetic hormones, antibiotics etc.

True, but most people would infer from the conclusions - rightly or wrongly - that organic isn't any better for them. I agree that there's a distinction to be made between 'nutritious' and 'healthful', but that's probably too subtle for most people.

Are pesticides classified as a food group yet? ;)

Probably most wouldn't...but it was a popular pick up on the Red State blogs which is how it ended up on the "tree hugger" PriusChat forum.

Most folks know organic is about chemicals and artificial additives to foods and avoiding them.

Maybe they do. Maybe they don't. I don't know of any statistics to prove it one way or the other. Do you?

My point was that even if people are aware of organic's true meaning, they may purchase it for their own health, and not out of concern for the health of the environment.

Sure...Organic designation has to do with chemical content nothing to do with nutrition so folks are buying organic based on chemical content not nutritional content.

Of course. But the thread was about nutritional content of organic foods not whether people purchased organic food to help the environment.

The study and its conclusions were pointless since organic designation is based on chemical content not nutritional content.

Well, some folks are buying organic because the women in the organic stores are more interesting, chemical content nonwithstanding. :)

Can't speak for others, but we buy organic for the taste and health values. There's no comparison, and we can't go back to eating non-organic stuff because they taste so bland.

We also support our local organic farmers and ranchers. As a matter of fact, I'm on my way to pick up our local produce bin for the week and stock up on grass fed beef bones to make soup and broth.

...meanwhile us humans cannot get an antibiotic without jumping thru hoops so as to not cause antibiotic-resistant strains...I hope those cows had to make a doctors visit to get a prescription
