Aug. 2011 pri II - idles up a little before shutdown during running

    Since the weather has dropped a little I was wondering if it's normal that the car sitting on in the drive way, on, would idle up a little just before shut down. I mean shutdown to use the battery not shut down turn the car off.

    It idles fine for the warm up stage then just before it shuts down to be available for ev mode it spins up a little.

    I will need to monitor the RPM to see how high it idles up.

    It never did that during the warm months in Aug or Sept.

    Yes, that is normal. I would say mine does that about half of the time.

    Mine does that also out here in tropical Hawaii. IDK if it does it all the time or not thought but when I do listen to the engine I hear it. When I do pay attention and listen and hear the RPM increase I can tell when the ICE is going to shutdown.

    Yup, I hear this regularly. As dustoff003 says, I've learned that sound means it is about to shut down and ICE is warmed up.

    I think it is pretty normal. The ICE just prepares itself for next easy start.
