Any more info on the next Prius v beyond pictures of a camoed car thought to be it?

The Niro uses the same drivetrain as the Hyundai Ioniq. It has been available longer than the Ioniq, and sales have been good for a new hybrid.

Regardless, Ford announced the end of the C-MAX which makes market share for the Niro.

c-max did not do as well as ford wanted, and was partially handicapped by false fuel efficiency claims. Competition has not helped the c-max or the prius v. It appears they are going to replace it with a phev escape after a brief hiatus. The escape phev may be a test of components ford is planning to use in a 2020 f150. We should know a lot of details in a year.

Seems like putting batteries in mastodons, but every little bit helps.

The C-max was doing poorly; Ford might have been giving them away. It leaving may not affect the Niro.

Some actually need mastodons, and insurance and registration fees might eat up the savings of having a second, more efficient car.

Besides, a 10% decrease in fuel consumption in a large truck will save more fuel than a 10% reduction in an already efficient car.

Anyone actually own one of these? Same drivetrain as the Hyundai Ioniq....which we have a few firsthand observation threads on. However, I have not seen any on the Niro.

BTW - Hyundai/Kia seem to be taking the 'stealth hybrid' approach...which I like!

It's selling better than the Ioniq. Guess they just don't come around Priuschat.

To quote myself and Jeff Cobb's team: Dashboard summary October 2017 | PriusChat

Between the hybrid and plug-in, about 1,500 Ford C-MAX cars leaving the market.

I work with a guy who bought a Niro earlier this year, it's his first hybrid vehicle. I'll get his take on the car. It is a nice looking vehicle, kind of a midnight blue color.

Local to me there is a new 2017 C-max SE listed over $10k off MSRP, and a 2018 one at $9000 off. Ford is giving them away.
    Cars.com

Some off those C-max buyers will go to the Niro or even another hybrid. I suspect most will go to an ICE car if the they can't get a deal currently available on a C-max though.

Note, the post you quoted was in response to a comment on the lack of Niro owners posting here.

Considering the number of non-Prius advocates who do hang around, it is a blessing.
