Availability/ordering date for the PHEV Prius

    I don't think they have dropped the ball. There is a lot going on at Toyota besides PHEV and hybrids. They are really focused on quality right now. They are also concentrating on offering sportier vehicles. Then you have the yen which is in the crapper right now, making products more expensive to sell (exports).

    They also might be interested to see REAL public reaction to the Volt and Leaf.

    Oddly, I saw a Volt in Atlanta yesterday. Must have been a mule or something.

    Hi Jacaufie,
    I have a 2005 with an Enginer system. I could easily get 85-100mpg on your commute even with the warm-up. The PHEV system is not pure EV but it does better than you might think even for distances and speeds like what you are describing.
