I want to install a backup camera - wireless preferred, for my 2005 Prius. Do you have a model recommendation?

I just installed a Peak brand in my friend's pickup. Seems to work fine. Gets good reviews.

    Like this.

There seems to be several versions of it with the only difference among them being the screen size.

My suggestion is don't bother. They do an extremely poor job of giving you the main piece of information you need when you back up: where the corners of your vehicle are. For that you need to look around. The only thing a backup camera is really good for is telling you if there's something immediately behind your vehicle and it doesn't give a very good sense of distance - especially if you're not straight on.

While I wholeheartedly agree with this...

    I don't with this.

I wouldn't rely exclusively on a camera for backing up, they're a nice addition for convenience and safety... IMHO.

I got a backup camera mounted below the spoiler. It gives a good wide view of the back area, and even has lines. Luckily, the lines ended up being in-line with the outsides of my rear-view mirrors, so its perfect to aligning into a parking spot, or between cars.

My camera has gone out and I've been looking for a unit w/lines such as you describe-what brand was it and where from?

Do a search for back up cameras, the information has been given a few times.

I'm re-writing my review on this camera. If your car has a bluetooth phone interface, this unit will not work. The BT signal operates on the same (or similar) frequency as the camera, and it interferes -- making the unit essentially useless.

I imagine this is the same with all wireless backup cameras.
