I believe my battery pack is weak ...it's throwing the P0A80 code .....the car began to move at half its power, was told that it went into low propulsion mode due to the code .....I'm waiting on modules to have the bad ones replaced ......
Can I still drive the car and will driving it damage any parts

    Thanks

You can drive, but the fuel consumption will be terrible at this time

You can drive it until it won't go anymore- which could happen in a few months, or weeks, or days- at any place (usually the least convenient opportunity).

So if you must use it, then have a plan B ready for when it strands you.

Also, what do you plan to do for charge-discharge cycling; grid charger (all modules at once?) or hobby chargers (cycle each module individually?)

Or, do you feel lucky and want to just replace some modules? (Heeere's another player for our favorite game ---- Whack A Mole! )

Even when the HV battery is defective with triangle light, it still can run and go anywhere but with much less torque. You will not be stranded. Most Toyota hybrid has 8 years 150k miles warranty, and even longer in CA. If yours is out of warranty, shop around and ask the dealership for the total cost with the replacement and recycling program. Some of us pay between $2500-$3000 for a brand new battery. If your car worth much less than that, you can buy a used battery for under $1000 and sell it while it still has a 1-year warranty. They come and install it in your home.

I do not recommend the cylinder D-cell battery. That's is very old technology and simple physics tell us, it has much lower capacity from the inefficient volume packing. They are not controlled by any institute and no one knows how safe they are. Stick with a prismatic Panasonic battery.

If you are handy and brave. Use proper protection and download the service manual on how to disassembly the HV battery safely. You can check which cell is bad replace only those modules and buy a good specific NiMH battery charger. It needs a lot of care and some youtube video shows how to do it.

CARISTA OBD2 scanner + Dr. Prius Apps can detect which HV modules are bad. If the internal resistance is also high at that particular module, it is probably the copper busbar/terminal is corroded and you can just buy the busbar from a Toyota dealer or clean it with vinegar.
