You and me both. Obama gave a rousing if formulaic speech but Keyes is one heck of a debater with a firm grasp of history.

Either way I guess a black Senator is coming to Illinois.

To be fair to us both, the word is used by different people to mean different things. However, you are describing a curious mix of Soviet Socialism (items 1 through 6) and Euro-Socialism (items 7 and 8 ). I don't think a master's degree makes your definition any more valid than anyone elses. But in return I must admit that my earlier definition (a market-based system where the workers own the means of production) is my definition, not accepted by everyone. I take my definition from Marx. (And I reject both Lenin and Stalin.)

I fear that during the debate, Keyes will resort to typical talk-show / television interview tactics. That is, even if Obama is making a really great point, Keyes will attack a single word in the explanation and not the explanation itself. Or, if pinched into a corner, he will attempt to turn the tide by attacking Obama personally.

It's the common practice that if you can't argue against the facts, argue against the person. It's the same attitude used when OJ's defense team couldn't defend the evidence so they attacked the police department. Discredit the person enough and nothing they say will hold credit.

Here Keyes waste no time in bashing Obama during a Chicago Public Radio segment:
    Chicago Public Radio's program "848"

    Quick notes:
From what I can tell from his words, it's basically anti-American to NOT vote for Keyes. He talks alot about what "WE" as Americans believe. Rather than saying, "I believe this" he says, "we in this country believe this"

On his reproach of Hilary Clinton moving to NY and running for Senate, he has made it clear that he's different. He came here, rather, because he has found that Obama is a threat to the nation. And "people" felt that Obama running practically unopposed was deeply troubling.

Before correcting himself, he calls Missouri "next door".

He says emphatically that no study has ever proved that homosexuality is genetic and therefore a conscious decision. Also, we can not assert that our sexual tendencies are uncontrollable. Giving in to sexuality demeans us to animalism and he will not allow that to happen. He uses celibacy as an example of controlling sexuality.

On Iraq: If Bush erred, at least he erred on the side of defending the country. He does not believe in going into Iraq to rebuilt the country. Feels that is not a defendable position. We are there, rather, to fight against terrorism.

O'Hare expansion: undecided but it has to be done in a way that satisfies the "grass roots" issues of the people. Best interests of business AND people who live near. [Good luck with that.]

Closing words, paraphrased 'thank God I will not be hindered with previous Illinois politics and mindsets.'
