If you mean Adobe Flash, Apple still considers it not secure and a burden to the system, but people keep using it. It should have died long ago, but it's like a zombie or something. So many web sites still use it that it's kind of hard to get along without it. If you should or shouldn't, I think I'd have to let you decide. If you're using Safari, you can go to the Security tab in Safari's preferences and make it "on," "off," or "ask" for individual web site. Mine are all either off or ask.

BTW, did we hijack this thread or what!!?? LOL!

I'm not using one. Sometimes there is a lag before anything happens with mine -- not just on PC. I think it's either the ISP or the DNS getting a little busy.

And I think it is HIGHLY likely that it is the pop-up ads loading that is causing the delays.
ALL of the minor sites seem to be doing this these days.......and just ONE of the ad servers slowing down can cause a major delay.
On pages where over 20 foreign elements are loading, even a small delay on each can make the primary site appear to be almost dead.

MY preferred ad blocker is AdBlocker (Plus). May not work with Sierra though.

I'm using AdBlock Ultimate 1.9.3, requires a fee, but seems effective. I don't like using an AdBlock but as long as advertisers insist on 'autoplay' ...

thanks bob! i wouldn't use it if the pages would load quickly. i downloaded the free ad blocker by fiplab from the app store, but the ads are still there. more work to do i guess.(n)

This site specifically motivated me to install an ad blocker, not for trivial reasons: otherwise I could not access the site, for a while. Maybe the site's sponsors should pay attention to this?

I was using Ad Block Plus on a Win 10 system with FireFox as browser, but then recently it stopped working. I discovered in FireFox's add-on they're now touting uBlock Origin, so I went with that, working fine.

I'm using iPhone with Safari on my iPhone. Haven't looked into any ad blocker so far, seems not bad. Sometimes on my pc the ad blocker goes too far: I can't see links posted within threads, Amazon for example, but if I check on my phone they're showing, so that works out.

Not only is the website barely usable today...I'm starting to get more and more sketchy ads that wouldn't be appropriate for children to see. I suppose I am enabling all these issues to exist by frequenting this site. Maybe I need to take my business/page views elsewhere.

Yeah, it's bad today for me. I'm using an adblocker on this site, so I don't see them, but the sketchy ads are probably a sign that the site has been hacked.
