Actually it's bigger than you apparently realize. Chrysler is a part of Dodge Ram Jeep Fiat. Also, the minivan contains the Pacifica moniker, which is a 33 mile plug in. Their sales are doing fine, and even if they go away, it would be a technicality - as often products get absorbed into other companies. Ironically, the only California auto manufacturer nowadays is your favorite company - Tesla. At least until are lovely governor decides to financially chase them away from the state.

Yes Chrysler is part of the entire Fiat group as you have pointed out. But with PSA taking over, there will be too many over lapping vehicles. With Chrysler only offering two models, they will be the first to go. Jeep and Ram are the bread and butter for them in the USA, so they will be around a long time to come. PSA will build upon the brand with Hybrids and Electric vehicles for sale in USA and Europe. Peugeot and Fiat have a large mountain to climb to attract sales in China. There used to be many vehicle factories in California, Tesla only reason for being in California was that they got a deal on the old GM/Toyota factory.

That and the fact that they were founded in San Carlos CA then moved to Palo Alto before they had a big factory. The first cars were made in Menlo Park also nearby. Buying the NUMMI plant didn't happen until they'd been around for 7 years in 2010. And made sense since many in the target market lived in CA.
