I'd be more interested in adding power lumbar support as long as I'm in there anyway...

I'm supposed to get the package tomorrow according to Fedex.... I'll snap some pics of the leather as soon as it comes in.

I think I'll do a step by step install guide/play by play for anyone that wants to do this in the future.

I love the 2010, but my 2006 has been payed for, for 3 years now.... I think this little upgrade can get me to stay in this car for 5 more years, and that is going to be worth a lot of money in my pocket.

Additionally if this goes well, I'll redo my wife's Subaru Outback at some point.... Her biggest gripe is the lack of leather, so if it can keep her in that car for 3+ more years, I'm the big winner!

Weird thing is that we're both Vegetarians......

Thurs. AM Just order a Grey set for $165 + Shipping. Please post your success with the install. I'm checking around my town for pros that can assist me just in case. I think someone suggested to use plastic zip ties instead of hog rings. Hopefully there will be more suggestions...

Re: Bartlett Corporation Leather on Ebay-

Last night when I showed my wife the bargain on a leather kit (she said to make an offer!) she asked me if Prius owners were more averse to leather, being more ecologically aware. I hadn't thought about that, and now you mention being Vegetarians. I justify leather as being a natural product that would be wasted by the people that produce billions of Big Macs, so I might as well take advantage of the product rather than waste it (it's not like I'm going to get billions of Big Mac eaters to quit). True, some chemicals are involved in the processing, but generally this is an industry that goes back thousands of years. Thoughts?

You are not eating the leather. It is renewable and fully recyclable.

You hit the nail on the head in terms of my thoughts.... With that said, I do understand that some people are averse to the thought/notion/concept of using leather. Makes sense to me.

We now have a 14 month old son that we didn't have when we bought both our cars. Leather is making more and more sense every day from a cleaning point of view.

    He's a dirty little bugger!

Just ordered the dark gray!!! Here's hoping it's not impossible to self-install...

My offer of $150 was accepted.

Looks like we're both in Queens too! :)

Mind if I PM you when we're installing? It'll be nice to have someone to troubleshoot with.

    argh...
FED-EX did not pick up my package until yesterday(4/29/09) even though the shipping info was sent to them on 4/27/09... That means I will be getting mine next week sometime... :(
I've asked Bartlett for a professional installer in my area... they gave me a number... I've called them 2 times but I guess they don't want to install it for me since I am not buying the leather seats from them.... :(

forgot to mention... I am thinking about installing heated seat kits... :)

Hey, look! We are neighbors. Sure PM me. My hog ring pliers should be here tomorrow.

The guy has not shipped out my leather yet. He mentioned in the email about warehouse moving to Houston.

    Yea mine's shipping May 4th.

I haven't even thought of the equipment I might need to install this. Where did you get your hog ring pliers? Is there anything else I might need?

Re: Bartlett Corporation Leather on Ebay-

    THE PRICE IS $150!

I tried $145 and they countered with $150. So now we know the bottom dollar. I jumped on this, so now there's another sucker - uh, lucky bidder - to do his own install. I have installed seat covers on imports before. The only thing that worries me is the air bags and safing them. The rest is just labor - lots and lots of labor.

I'm curious to see what the color Dark Pewter (Dk. Grey) is. I have the 2-tone gray with the slightly greenish gray cloth seats that don't really match any other surface in the car. I wonder if the Dk. Grey will match the pics in their ad, or be darker? Actually I'd love it to be more of a dark charcoal.

I might try the zip ties - I've used hog rings in the past (I have a hog ring plier that I bought in the 1970's) but tiewraps sound much more modern, quicker, and easier. And that way no hogs will be injured or killed in the process ;)

You can use my pliers. I ordered a pair, one straight and another at an angle. That should make the install easier.

So even if I use the zip ties that some are advocating I'll probably still need a pair of these to remove the existing hog ties...

Re: Bartlett Corporation Leather on Ebay-

I don't know how long the plastic zip tie is going to last. I was thinking about doing a hog ring / zip tie hybrid. Hog rings in the key areas and zip ties in hard to reach area?

One thing for sure, I don't want to do it twice. I will do it right the first time.
