...just bought a CTEK 3300 charger/maintainer for my 2012 Prius, after seeing this brand and model mentioned favorably on this forum...the device's instructions emphasize it is to be used only for lead acid batteries, but I think our 12v is an AGM...can I use it safely? Thanks for an answer!

Our 12v battery is lead-acid- but of AGM design which means it's low gassing and has a wet sponge type material (rather than sloshing liquid) between the lead plates.
According to the 3rd bullet-point (under Product Features) at Amazon- it does support AGM batts:
    CTEK 3300

Geesh, I likely led you astray, never noticed that. I've used my CTEK 3300 on ours somewhere between 5 and 10 times. Never for a serious discharge so far, just as periodic top-up. Voltage seems to be staying steady, and no problems.

I think ny-rob's right, that AGM is under the umbrella definition of lead-acid battery.
