Thanks. I don't know what to suggest at this point. I suppose you have three alternatives:

    1) live with the car as-is (and if it is not demonstrating driveability symptoms, that might be reasonable to do)

    2) try to induce an early failure

    3) install a salvage battery as a preventive move.

BTW, I've experienced a couple of traction battery failures, on my 2001 and HiHy. Both were replaced under warranty.

In both cases the DTC had to do with uneven SOC. The cars could still be driven, although at relatively slow speed, with very little acceleration available, and the engine would run whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed. Hence, a limp-home mode is available which might help if your SO has this problem. She at least can drive to a nearby gas station for help, or other safe area to park.

Thanks again, did you have any early signs of failure?

None. One day the car was great. The next, the instrument panel was a Christmas tree and the driveability symptoms started.

Just a little update on this. I emailed our FTS (Field Technical Specialist) for our region (CAT). He is having toyotechwv and I perform a test on the traction battery (I can't release the test procedure), record the traction batteries behavior during said test and send our findings to him. He will inform us/make a decision from there. Just wanted to keep this thread up to date.
