Battery whirring, sounds like accelerating when slowing down?

    My 2015 Prius V (around 65k miles) has been on and off making a whirring sound sometimes when I decelerate. It started a couple weeks ago and has happened a handful of times, mostly when I’m slowing down through neighborhoods. It sounds like the hybrid battery but I can’t be sure, it reminds me of an older computer that has the loud fans that blow when the computer is doing too much.

    Is this something to worry about? Should I cancel my 400 mi round trip this weekend?

    Check the battery fan beneath the rear passenger side seat for obstructions.

    And for air movement after you notice this noise.

    This sounds a little like the system is trying extra hard to charge a hybrid battery that has developed a fault......but that shouldn't be happening with no more age than yours has and with no warning lights.

    Are you hearing the "like accelerating" sound from in front of or behind you?
