Nokian Hakas (now ok in summer) or WRG3. Hakapalita is more "wintery", WRG3 works, just not as well.

We've been happy with Continental TrueContact on both our Gen II and Gen III on 15-inch wheels ...

Depending on where you live (and I live in Syracuse area in Upstate New York) you may want to consider a dedicated snow tire. Using each set half the year just doubles the life of both sets. I love the Michelin X-Ice on my Gen 3. They have a 40,000 mile tread warranty, have low rolling resistance and are rated eco and green. Snow grip is great and tires are comfortable ride and quiet.

We have the Conti True Contacts but if I was back in Buffalo the Nokian would be a serious consideration. Hard to find Nokians south of the Mason Dixon Line but Yankees can surely get 'em. TireRack will give you some nice test results, but I do not think they have Nokians in their ratings. A/S tires really not too great for serious winter tires, with Nokian as possible semi-exception.

Best "all seasons" for winter? In Buffalo, New York? Dedicated snow tires on separate rims.

I agree as they are best tires I have had on any vehicle I have ever owned. Wife agrees. She said I thought all your tire talk was just "Guy Talk". But she too loves our Continental TrueContact. BTW they were top rated by Tire Track in every category on their web site. Run ours 40-front/37 rear. 11/32s new now have 27000 miles on them with 8/32 left. As gas is so cheep don't mind the slight cost to mileage. But I have gotten 52 mpg on trips to Phoenix at 80 mph. And 52 mpg on trip up and back through mountains to Flagstaff.

Getting ready to buy some all weather tires. They have a 3 peak mountain snowflake like the KO2 tires I have on the ridgeline. Seems like a good in between from an all season and winter tire. Not sure what the mpg's are going to be. I am looking at the Goodyear assurance weatherready tires. I know these are fairly new and was wondering if anyone here has had experience with them. Maryland has a mix of weather. It snowed friday and is going to be 60 degree's tomorrow, go figure.
Plenty of siping going on here(y)(y)
