Best carplay option for 2017 Prius II (non-nav, non-JBL)

    Howdy,

    I am looking for Apple Carplay integration into the factory controls and screen. I had this on my 2017 IS350, it didn't work as well as factory carplay, but it did work.

    I don't want an aftermarket stereo. They look juvenile and are clunky with horrendous screen glare IMO.

    This company claims to have it but I do not see any pictures or videos of an actual prius, just very generic marketing on their site;

    Anyone with experience

    Does this exist for the 4th Gen Prius?

    You go first and tell us how it works!

    I have a 2016 Four Touring and would contemplate this if I knew it worked and the install was easy enough.

    Not actual Car Play but close enough. There is Siri integration via “mobile assistant” with the Sat Nav enabled head unit that has the “voice recognition” package (year of manufacture 2016-2019 inclusive). Siri can be activated on a Bluetooth connected phone from the steering wheel 2016-2018 by pressing and holding the off hook telephone button. On 2019 push and hold the voice button.
    In both versions you can control music content and text messages send and receive…

    Yep. Not what I am looking for. I don’t interact with robots. Just want maps on the screen instead of the trash nav that came with the car.

    I’ve owned enough chinese carplay adapters to know how they work and won’t be buying another until someone can prove the bugs have been worked out. ;)

    Oh well. No one knows!
