Do u have any issue without using the relay for your hid kit? I have installed my kit 1 week ago and I have left it on even on day time. So far I have no issue and the brightness for 55w is really good.

This is without installing the relay that come together with my kit.

I just installed this kit , the video on line is for a 2011 Prius and the kit shown was not exactly what was sent. On my 2010 prius II, the 2 black modules would not slide down under the fuse box, but were so big, they had to be mounted above the fuse box cover , it works, but is a bit of a pain to get the fuse box cover off. The wires were a lot longer than in the Xenon supply install video shows, so with some messing around it could be made to work. On the passenger side again the size of the modules made it a pain to find a place for them under the the overflow reservoir , I ended up mounting one module on the top off to the fender side. Not as easy as the video shows but with w bit of tinkering it can be made to install OK. Not quite plug and play, more like find what works for your install, and cob it in.....

Are there any concerns with a 50 W kit vs 35W? Heat, ballasts or do they work just fine? Has anyone ever got false warnings on their dashboard with these kits or do the ballasts eliminate the error codes?

    Thanks.

Get good quality AC digital ballasts vs DC ballasts for longer bulb life.

Also, most manufacturers recommend using an HID relay that draws power from the battery (fuse block in the Prius) instead of the car's headlight circuit for more reliable operation.

Mine has worked fine for two years and over 80,000 Kms. No need for relay if you have a reasonable quality system. No heat problems.

+1 on the Retrofit source hid kit. I've used their projector retrofit kit on my gen 2 still going strong. Now I have the HID kit for my gen 3. I did have an issue with it. I was installing but one of the lights would not work. Triple checked all my wiring and grounds, ended up being a bad relay. They sent me a new one right away did not charge or was I required to send the bad one back to them. I went with 50w xb35 morimoto bulbs 5000k

    Sweet bulbs right?
Very nice output with the 50 watt ballasts.
Very close to the look of OEM Prius LEDs...

Very much so ! I have the 5000k on my old prius. I went with the xb35 bulbs for the ground shadow issue.
It was the first thing I did when I got my gen 3 was slap in some HIDs.

Where can I purchase those type of female terminal? Looks like the spade terminal is housed in a plastic case with snap-on type of lock. Thanks.

They're available at auto supply, hardware, and at Wal-Mart, etc. Look in the automotive electrical section, or in wiring, car stereo sections, etc.

Any recommendation where I should run the relay harness and also be able to secure it properly? Thanks.

I just ordered 50w xb35 morimoto bulbs 4300k, how do you like so far, any words of wisdom :)
I am bit skeptical on heat, did you you notice them running over heated ?

Hi Varun, Not sure if your question is to me but my generic Phillips licensed ballasts have given no trouble. They get hot but are touchable!
