just wanted to know what the best wheel offset is for our prius.... I am thinking of going aftermarket wheels (and yes, I am aware of the mpg ramifications :) ) and going 2 sizes up to 17's..... just wondering if any wheels with 35 to 42 offset would be okay. thanks in advance....

Try calling the Tire Rack, get the number off their site, (tirerack.com) and see what off-set they recommend. They are great fitment consultants.

I bought a set of 17x7 TcScion rims. The offset is 45mm. They fit like they were meant to be the actual OEM.

Have you installed the tire-pressure sensors yet?

No, I haven't. (Plumber's tape over the idiot light) I'm going to pull the sensors before I sell the tires and rims back to the dealer. The used car lot manager said he'd buy them. Whenever I do (and don't hold your breath) I'll report how the sensors work.
