Best options for adding Bluetooth audio?

    I'm planning on buying a 2010 Prus this weekend (my first Prius). It's the base model so no screen/backup camera and no Bluetooth audio.

    Bluetooth audio is a must-have for me. So, I'm wondering what the best way to go about adding Bluetooth integration is. I've seen a number of third-party products that integrate Bluetooth into the existing head unit by emulating a CD changer (I think). That seems pretty slick.

    But I'm wondering if I should look at swapping to a different factory head unit instead. Or if there are any aftermarket head units that the Prus community especially likes.

    Buy a Bluetooth transceiver or receiver, and hook it up to the 3.5" jack in the arm rear console so it's hidden. Audiophiles will want Bluetooth 4.1 or higher when audio source is lossless. I connect my audio that way from my phone.

    Thanks for your input, but I'm looking for more advanced options. A dongle will "work", but they require charging or a power cable from the power port. Also, you cant use the steering wheel controls (pause/play and track skip) with a dongle.

    The best option in my opinion is to put a 57031 head unit in (assuming you are do not have JBL). The color does not match but it gives you bluetooth, iPod/USB and a nice display. One downside is that unless you add a microphone, bluetooth phone calls do not work.

    You'll need an antenna adapter and move one wire from a harness to the antenna adapter.

    Really? You suggest the OEM head unit vs an aftermarket head unit? The Android head units seem pretty cool

    The Android head units are of questionable quality in my opinion. The OEM should last for the life of the car. I would trade features for reliability since the OEM has enough to satisfy me.

    Are you sure the 57031 will fit/function in a 2010 prius?

    Research BLU Logic. They use to sell the bluetooth telephone accessory back in the day. Ive never seen one but cant hurt to see if they still sell them. Instructions are pretty good most the time with our accessories.
