We own a 2011 prius and just found out we're going to have to get a new engine. What is the best online shop you guys would reccomend?

Same here. I was thinking a salvage yard with a warranty, but that's around $2700 uninstalled and usually engines with over 125k

    Can you share more details?

    How many miles on it?

Any specific issues you’ve noticed, say excessive oil consumption, shaking at start up, coolant loss, things like that? Are you dealing with independent shop or dealership?

Are they giving any more specific info, or just “you need a new engine”?

Have there been any warning lights and if so has anyone read and divulged trouble codes?

I am waiting for @Mendel Leisk to argue it is in the rear like any good old Volkswagen.

Not everything can be solved "online".

Are you sure you want to invest that much in a 10 year old car ?
If the HV battery is original, that probably will go next.
And with a cost similar to a new engine.

This may not be a good plan.

P.S. A second opinion on needing a new engine might be a good idea.
