Black Front Grill (Not Silver)

Thanks for checking. The parts diagram was just a little vague on whether all grilles were designed to go both ways or only some.

Apparently some middle trim cars(XLE/XSE) in some markets come with the silver grille insert but don't have the fog lights. In those cars, there are blank plates that go where the fog lights would. Those blank plates use the same screw holes as the fog light assemblies. This does mean you should be able to put a Nightshade grille on an LE or SE as long as you also buy the cover plates and screws. The only problem might be that the blank plates for an XLE/LTD grille might not be the exact shade of black as the Nightshade grille, but a subtle contrast might actually make it look a little better.


I agree that the whole part seems to be a single piece and the middle section is not removable. I wonder if that other poster, when talking about the two-piece grille, was referring to the [body color bumper cover + grille] instead of [black outer grille + silver inner grille]?

looks like I’ll be buying a nightshade grille in the near future.

 

The 2pc grilles have a painted insert with a painted glossy finish on the outer portion. This can be had with or without fog lights from what I saw. The lower trim grille is 1pc with an unpainted matte black finish across the whole part, but I did not see this version with the fog light cutouts.

 

That explains the two extra screws. They must secure the inner section after it's clicked in place. The parts diagram doesn't show it as a separate piece, but it does show the two extra screws.
