I just added the black hood deflector to my Super White and it really looks great. I bought it yesterday at the local Toyoto Dealer, I am in Canada and it cost me $70 Cdn plus tax. It was very easy to install and it really adds symetry to the car.

I would add a picture but my digital camera is broken and in for repairs. It will also cut down on the rock and bug damage to the hood, I do have to drive a bit on gravel roads so I am very happy I added it. I am sure there are others with the hood deflector that could post pictures.

    Cheers Mike B)

No this hood deflector fits on top the hood of the hood and is about 9 inches wide. It follows the contour of the hood and has a hole cut so it does not cover the Toyota emblem. The bra is made or leather while the hood deflector is made of a hard material, I believe it is plastic.

The hood deflector attaches underneath the hood by five clips. I am sure someone on Prius Chat, especially Canadian owners will add a picture for you to see. It is really slick and adds to the Super White because it is black which adds contrast to the white paint.

    Cheers Mike ;)

I have had one on my car since 2004; it works great and I think is preferable to something actually touching the painted surfaces.

 Does it defect air flow up so bugs don't hit the windshield? Or is it only to look cool and catch bugg splats?

Where else can it be purchased? 70 CDN does not equal $95 U.S!

In my opinion the hood deflector is much more pleasing to the eye than the bra especially on the Super White.

And if it does, do the altered aerodynamics affect fuel efficiency?

I do not think it will affect gas mileage and if it does it would be very very minimal, mud flaps create much more drag than the hood deflector.

    Thank you for the photos!
Hmm... it's not doing it for me, though.
I think I'll pass on this one... I'd rather have a BT plate :D

The overall affect is even better on the Super White, but like anything it is a matter of personal taste. I will also be adding the BT plate.

I was looking for something to cover the hood, since my first ding is about 6 1/4" from the front of the hood :( , so as I read on this posting..."9" wide" that coverage would do quite well, BUT....as I googled, got onto Sigma Automotive...the one for $95....the measurements read "46x23x4". Hmmm? A typo? I think I need to make a phone call inquiry.

You can see from the photo how big the hood deflector is. Look at where it comes to IAW the light and then look at your vehicle to see if it would cover the scratch. I do believe it is a type O.

I believe those dimensions are in cm's not inches which would explain why it seems odd.

    cheers Mike

    1. Yup. Deflects bugs. On a road trip to California, I noticed that I had WAY fewer bugs than other cars at the rest stops. I think it deflects small pebbles as well, if you're going fast enough to generate a hefty slipstream.

    2. ToyotaTown in Langley, British Columbia shipped me my deflector for about 45 bucks total. 95 bucks is a ripoff.
