Blown head gasket?

    Let us see what all you prius gurus think.

    Prius has been shuttering in the mornings
    Seems to have come back since it has been getting warmer outside.
    Also at low speed take off at a stop
    Then it smooths out sometimes code will show up as misfires only.

    No oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil.
    Coolant loss seems to be happening.
    Been trying to burp the coolant system.
    Oil has smelled like fuel for a long time.

    No white smoke ever just fuel smell in cabin if I turn off the recirculate button.
    Does not burn oil since levels are always stable without topping off.

    Took some pictures with a scope
    Let me know what you think.

    Don't guess test. A compression test will give you your answer. And my guess is that numbers 1 and 4 will read different than 3 and 4?

    But I think there is something different you have to do for testing compression on a Prius? I don't know?

    with all that carbon gunk, super unleaded should cure the knocking with higher compression now.

    You have entered a club that requires no initiation fee and has wide diversity in its membership. The problem is trying to get out of the club without paying the piper. Classic head gasket symptoms in the number one Toyota year for the issue. Coolant loss is the secret handshake.
