My bad dude. I thought you already had them, and the new tires and wheels were on the Prizzy already. I don't need pics of the sensors, cause I can get them from the wheels I'm getting next week ;) Oh yeah, don't forget to get the numbers from your car from Toyota for my sensors. See ya next week.

I'm wanting to purchase a set of TPMS sensors for a new set of dedicated All-Season tires that will be installed on my 2006 Prius this spring. An eBay seller has them listed for $52 for a set of 4. Below is a link:

Solara TPMS Tire Pressure Sensors - Set of 4 -New OEM - eBay (item 290514996174 end time Dec-29-10 07:43:17 PST)

Since the eBay sensors are made by Pacific, do you think they are built to the same quality standard as the Toyota OEM ones?

I'm willing to pay the extra money to purchase the Toyota OEM's but if the eBay sensors are the exact same thing I'd like to save a few bucks.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

No one responded to my post above so I decided to purchase the eBay TPMS sensors. I figure if I'm not happy with their quality that I can always purchase the OEM's and will only be out $52.

I'm happy with the TPMS sensors I bought on eBay. One thing the seller didn't mention in the auction but is a positive in my book is the fact that the senors are made in Japan.

You do need Qty 4 Fit Kits to complete the install. These were purchased at the local Toyota Dealership for under $30.

So for $80 I have a set of quality TPMS sensors. I am happy.

Now to buy the ATEQ tool....

You can find the fit kits on ebay too for about $14/ set.

I know once you get caught up in technology it's addictive, but my 2 cents: TPM's are a solution in search of a problem, especially with the mileage conscious set. When I got snows on rims, I thought about it, not for long, didn't bother with them. We have a little light on the dash, no big deal.

TPMS are a solution to SUV driving idiots who can't keep their cars upright when their tire pressure is just a tiny bit off.

Why suffer all winter long with a light on the dash when for under $200 you can make it go away?

Qty 4 TPMS Sensors from eBay.....$52.00
Qty 4 TPMS Sensor Fit Kits..........$28.85
    ATEQ TPMS Reset Tool................$75.00

    Total.......................................$155.85

I drive a lot of miles. In the 10 months I have owned my Prius I have logged over 22,000 miles. Having a dash light on constantly is not an option.

I picked it up used from another PC member. I lucked out, but you might be able to find one on here from another member on on eBay if you look around.

New they are $125.00 from here:

    Thanks Mylar,
I may just bite the bullet instead of waiting and looking. I did find a good deal on the ATEQ for $107 and free shipping: Ateq - Auto Parts Warehouse

How many vehicles/sensors can use use with the tool? It is limited to x number vehicles? Thanks.

Thanks! I looked up the sensors on eBay, 4 for $52 & free shipping. Since the ones in the Prius (one is missing) are now 4+ years old and I'm getting ready for new tires... It may be to my advantage to replace all four. At least I would think the battery lifespan would be longer! Thoughts???

I see there are two service kits listed on eBay. A 216 & 217. It sounds like the difference is the thickness of the aluminum washer. Does anyone know which one for the Prius?

I bought a set for my moms Camry on ebay. I think the name of the store was oewheelsllc. They were $52 and worked perfect. I called the guy that was selling them and he said they were made by the same company that makes the ones sold at the dealership, they just don't say Toyota.

Most Discount Tire stores now have the tool to reset the Toyota TPMS. Before, Toyota was the only one they couldn't do. I would not pay the dealer to do it. Last time I checked they wanted over a $100 to do it.

Yep...same seller. Good info to know about the sensors he sells. Still wondering about which service kit to purchase. I will also check with my tire dealer to see if he has the reset tool tha will work with the Prius. Thanks!
