    Be careful you don't scratch up the cylinder while cleaning.
    Piston looks good. How are you cleaning it?

    Bring the piston to the top, not touching the cylinder, Brake Clean and a Brass Brush and a paper towel. ;)

    This is the first replacement engine, the one with massive coolant leak, and pristine looking head gasket? Did you somehow confirm it was a head gasket failure?

    This is the replacement engine that I got from the parts yard that made milk shake.

    Was it the head gasket........

    I will find out soon,

    Put the head on the gasket

    Torque it down to 36 foot lbs
    then 90 degrees
    then 45 degrees

    Just Turned it on!!!!

    So far, so good...

    I let it run till the engine warmed up and shut off.
    then i floored the accelerator pedal and let it run for a couple minutes.

    I checked the oil for contamination, none!

    I will drive it around a few miles tomorrow, and keep checking the oil.

    --- I will put the wipers on in the morning.---

    I wished I was in the USA. That would have being what I'd be doing, seeing that I rebuilt almost these engines(gasoline, and the rest). Nice idea

    Pls does JB welds have NY effect on the top gaskets, for instance, you want to removed the gasket someday, when you have such problems?

    I didn't use JB Weld on the head gasket. I used it on the head, by the valve on the valve cover side.
    I hope you've fixed the problem with the engine and that it will give you hundreds of thousands of good mileage!

    What country are you in?

    Okay, So I drove 2012 Blue Car around.
    Various streets of 25, 30, 35, 45 and the Freeway at 70 MPH

    Drove for about 36 miles
    I put in power mode for the last 15 miles of that.

    So far so good.
    I checked the oil and it's happy!!! :rolleyes:

    Looks like it was your head gasket after all. Glad that your head gasket rebuild worked out. Hopefully the junk yard will compensate you. Thanks again for sharing your inspiring pictures. ;)

    Kind of funny.
    I bought the car with 208,XXX miles and a bad head gasket :eek: then decided (instead of doing a head gasket job:confused:) to put a engine in with less miles.:LOL:
    Well... Ended up doing a head gasket job on the new to me engine with 93.000 miles.o_O

    But, Hey I cleaned the Pistons, Valves (Combustion Chamber), Intake Manifold and EGR, Flushed out all the cooler lines, Radiator and Heater core and Changed the Transmission fluid with new Toyota ATF WS.(y)
    New Head Gasket, New Head Bolts, New Valve Cover Gasket, New Intake Manifold Gasket, New Exhaust Manifold Gasket,
    New rear main Seal and a partridge in a pear tree.
