Not really a secret. It's just that the EV range is nearly perfect for me. I'm in EV around 95% of the time, if not more. That will change once I get some road trips under my belt. In five weeks, we plan to head out on a three-week trip to AZ, CO, WY, and NE. That'll get my overall average back down to planet Earth. :D

Well the average on that car was in the basement when you bought it, if I recall correctly.

It was pretty bad. I reset it the numbers because they were just depressing. But they are still in the Eco Diary. I put the Eco Diary into my mileage spreadsheet in a separate area. The average MPG was 55.5, which shows not much plugging in. Worst month was March, 2017 at 37.3 mpg but only driven 599 miles. Best was May, 2017 at 81.1 mpg and 929 miles.

It's a good thought. Beyond, here are the challenges right now for me:

-There's only one outlet overhead with two plugs, one used for the garage door opener.
-I tried to get a line run (220) to the unit, but a contractor told me it would be $4,500. The garages are arranged in a triangle, and if you imagine crudely that the meter is at the tip, my unit is essentially straight down and requires significant trenching. If I had been one of the other rows, I would have been much closer to reality and probably not had to trench.

In the end the electrician told me to run an extension cord over the top of the frame rails of the garage door and try that first. I wasn't really wild about stringing an extension cord given the load of the vehicle. And my tin foil hat, generally, should something go wrong.

I'm in a similar situation as cossie. I live in an apartment and can't charge there. There's no free charging at work. Big deal. I still get about 45 mpg in the brutal Maine winters, and over 60+ mpg in the temperate Maine summers.

^ I've got charging at my workplace (for now, I might be getting moved soon) for $.10/KWH. Last two days I've topped up for 65 cents per from a 0% EV battery.

Otherwise, same as you, loving the 60-70 in nice weather. Not sure what I'll get when it dips, I still pulled off mid 50s when it was in the lower 20s last week.

it’s an impressive car for sure, I chose it over the corolla hybrid and the awd Prius because of the plug and the rebate.

I also have a volt. The volt is more fun to drive, but not as efficient and it definitely has some weird Gm design that drives me nuts

It is dead weight. Might as well be a brick. I should find a place to stash that thing now that you mention it. I have a real plug kit and pump.

I used a 20 amp rated extension cable line that I run for my backyard the garage door supports. I was able to charge my vehicle at 12 imps. I called an electrician and some electrical box which has been my family room a cable or way up into the garage where I now using a chargepoint. I also had him 50 amp cable so any future all I have to do is change the 40 amp breaker to a 50 amp breaker so I can use a Tesla when I'm able to afford it. 20181229_110125.jpeg 20181229_114745.jpeg 20181229_131400.jpeg 20181229_115525.jpeg 20181229_123414.jpeg
