I bought my first Prius tonight (and 2013 Highlander Limited) and love it, but didn't think I would like it as much as I actually do. It's a 2012 Prius 4 with the solar roof panel and sunroof Silver with black in and gray interior. Sticker was $28,865 and I got it for $27,200. I traded in my 2012 Lexus LS460L that was loaded to the gills along with my 2008 Lincoln Navigator Elite. Both of those vehicles will be missed, but with my business growing , lot's of city driving and equity of $70k+ I decided to to cash-out and use the some of that equity for the business. The highlander was a straight lease and great deal with Toyota Financial. The Prius didn't have much room for negotiation, but the dealer did allow me to pay for it with my American Express Platinum which shocked me, but hey I will take the Amex points :) and of course pay the Amex off when my billing cycle hits.

Anyway on to the car it's really a relaxing ride and easy to navigate around the city in, but I am very taken back by all of the technology in this little machine. The moment I told a few friends that I bought it most of them we're in disbelief due to the fact that I am a die-hard muscle car and Ferrari/Porsche fanatic.

I don't plan on modding this car very much other than light tint. I might consider wheels, but only if they are less than $1000 for all 4, strong, light and do not sacrifice to much of the comfort. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Great community here and see a few friends from Clublexus and 6speedonline . com

So anyway that's my Prius buying story.

Congrats. I guess the AMEX will double the manufacturers warranty unless they don't count cars.

Congrats! Take caution with the aftermarket wheels. They can lower your MPG so make sure you do the research before you pull the trigger.

That's actually a very valid point and as much as I am laughing about it......Amex is hard-core with consumer protection, especially product protection. I will call my Amex rep and ask her.

In your opinion do you think that the upgraded stock 17" wheels would lower the MPG? Ultimately I don't want to sacrifice comfort and I think that can't be avoided, but still searching through forum posts.

JMD you are correct it does not help and or add to the warranty. Either way I will still have worry free driving for a long-time.

You will lose a few MPG and sacrifice some comfort but you will gain handling, shorter braking and better look.

There is a reason why Toyota doesn't offer both the solar sunroof and 17" rims together. Added weight would not make 50 MPG rating.

Knowing that and still want it, sure go ahead.

That is the joy of the Prius. Dependable and efficient.
