80-90% remaining, according to the report from tech.
    In other words, like new.

Another reason why I like my car!

That's not such a big deal. I've never had to replace the brake pads in my 2000 Subaru in 85,000 miles and my wife's Outback got over 95,000 on hers. Both Subes are heavier than the Prius. I am expecting 100K miles + from my 06 brakes. :)

I've always had to do barkes fairly often as I live in the hills... I assume that the Prius is light on the brakes because of the regen? Also if one uses the B mode does it save the brakes even more?

You actually have to keep an eye on the rotors because the Prius is so gentle on the brakes. People have had them rust from lack of use. I think one person had the rust on the back side of the rotor, so if you can look at both sides occasionally it could prevent problems. When you rotate the tires is a good time.

Wow. I had to replace my pads pretty frequently (every couple years if I recall) in our 98 Outback that we sold with only ~60000 miles on it. Does winter weather, salt on roads, wear them out more freqently? Or were we just bad drivers?

I don't know. We had them checked fairly frequently. Both my wife and I are "enthusiastic" drivers. Most of my driving is freeway, though I have about a dozen auto-crosses on my Impreza. We have been good on tires on both cars too. Got 40k on Michlein OEMs on Outback, and 65,000 on the Costco Michelins. I have 75k on my Impreza's Goodyear Eagles. I "melted" the OEM Bridgestones in 10K miles due to autocross.

Our cars are not serviced by car dealers. They may be more anxious to sell you brakes more often. I do a lot of maintenance myself, and leave big stuff to an indepenent garage.

    Your mileage may vary.
