    Aloha,

My safety check yesterday found a flickering brake light. The mechanic said he'd have to order it, I tried at Napa today anyway. No luck with their database, they sold me bulbs that didn't fit (too big).

I've been looking online for the part (WY21W 12V21W E13 2L4 amber) but don't trust the search results since they say different things.

A 2009 post mentioned the 7440NA is a replacement for this bulb. Can someone please verify whether this is indeed true?

I'm looking at a bulb on Amazon. No links allowed here.

    TIA,
    Maureen

The one-step-back question: are you sure it's a brake light you're looking for? Are those amber in Hawaii?

Taking another step, in the Gen 2 rears, I do not think the brake lights have replaceable bulbs at all.

The taillights (positioned low, on when the lights are turned on) are replaceable bulbs (99132-12050).

The backup lights (middle position) are replaceable bulbs (90981-13043).

The turn signal lights (top position, amber) are replaceable bulbs (90981-15011).

The brake lights are the LEDs built into the rear light housing itself, not replaceable bulbs.

Do you have a photo of the old bulb, and can you post it in this thread? (copy and paste is the easiest)
Was this the link? : Philips-7440NA-LongerLife-Miniature-Bulb/dp/B0173MKOLM

That's the right part number for the turn signal bulb, if the turn signal bulb is what the OP needs. That's the part that wasn't clear. (Pun originally unintended, but what the hey.)

The diagram on the parts page should clear up any question.

I actually think five bucks ain't bad. I pay $8 per bulb for the bulbs in my father-in-law's kitchen light.

If the OP is actually looking for the brake light, as the title said, it'll be helpful to know there's no bulb for that, just the LEDs built into the rear light housing.
