Anyone else have their brake pads making noise while driving on war zone like roads?
Sounds like the front end is falling off.
It started after a front brake job. Dealer then replaced all the clips and it was fine for six months.
Now starting to make noise again.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Mine has always done that.
    It's harmless.
    I live with it.

    Thanks for your reply.
Yeah I realize it's harmless but I guess I have a low tolerance for extraneous noise. I wonder why after 200k of nice quiet performance this is going on. I find it very annoying and embarrassing getting those "what the hell is that" looks from people. Yes I also have the quietest bicycle on the road, there is no other way for me.

    Thanks,

    Dan

It could be fixed. Probably it is the brake backing plate. And fixing that or many other possible faults would only take time.

Can I ask for a little more detail on the backing plate? Is that the same as a shim? If so I'm told Toyota no longer has shims.

    Thanks much,

    Dan

If you brake over the bad road surface you do not get the noise. I believe that's why the dealer says it's the clips holding the pads in place.
What I don't get is why all was fine until 200k and new front brakes.

    Thanks,

    Dan
