I have about 21000 miles on 2012 Prius and did the 20k service at local dealer. They marked the brakes as FRONT BRAKES 8.0MM__ REAR BRAKES__8.0MM____ ? What does that mean ?

It means your brakes show only about 10% wear or less.

It also means nice, even wear. Well done.

I believe the spec for new brakes is 9.0 MM so that should give you a perspective of the low wear rate. Prius brake pads last much longer than non-hybrid cars due to the regen braking feature.

Thanks guys. Thats good to know. I just bought it last month and was wondering the guy who owned it had driven quite a lot for less than one year... 19k miles in 10 months ..Must be all freeway so less use of brakes :)
