Has anyone noticed that their brakes squeal when in reverse? I only notice it when I press on my brakes when backing up any time of the day. I never notice it when I'm stopping at a light or stop sign, etc.....

I notice it when I back out of the garage in the morning but not at other times.

Yep. Sounds like the brakes are many years old. Sort of kills the stealth mood.

Some times the brakes sqeal just from surface rust, especially on the first use in the am. Especially after a really humid night, But if you getting it at all times it could be some dirt in the rear drums too.

Hye on a new car I've heard that the lingings have to seat with the rotors maybe you should try a few pretty hard apllications, don't lock them up but go fiarly fast and come to a quick stop. If you went a little easy on the brakes when they were new maybe you got a glaze on the lingings. No expert here for sure, but I've heard others more in the know LOL say this.

Same. I noticed brake squeal when I'm in reverse with full lock. It seems to happen when it's wet outside e.g. rain or snow.

I consistently have the exact same problem -- did it clear up for you?

Note that in reverse, there is no regen so you're solely using the friction brakes.

Right...but allegedly my drums are "almost new" (and in reality, they are, at 5k, plus the dealer's visual inspection) -- so this seems odd?
