And one of those ways is by raising a vehicle's beltline. Virtually every new vehicle built with any sporting pretention has this particular styling fad, and it's not so much a styling effort as a cheaper way to stiffen (and lighten) a car's chassis.

While stylish, it also reduces visibility by a substantial margin (like sitting in a bathtub). I'm not a fan of this method of either stiffening or styling. My preference is a more traditional greenhouse ('tumble-home') with a more upright front windshield without the fast rake, and a lower beltline. But it's certainly 'old-school' thinking.

Check out the Lotus Elise/Exige. Your description of "bathtub" is actually quite accurate!! Poor visibility from many areas but it is a very stiff all aluminum chassis. Too bad they are not such a PITA to get in and out of or I would probably have one just as a fun car to drive on the weekends!! :)

 Is this thread still going!

I would be interested in a skid plate too! Make sure it doesn't produce a whistle noise and doesn't take up much ground clearance.

Pray tell, what is the preformance add on you are developing Brian? No fair teasing like that!

    Hi Brian,
I tried some weeks ago to enter all my details on the PC Shop site to order, but I could get no further than the Country input - I emailed and was told you did not ship overseas.
I have sent an email to Danny regarding other items we cannot have shipped - and asking for help to purchase.
At least you have replied - Coastal have ignored 3 emails this week regarding my enquiry and I have noted they will not ship overseas as well - why the caution??
    Will call you.
    Thanks

:D Glad to know this thread is still alive and well and approaching the 1000 mark. I've had my BT Plate on for several months now and I must say I really like having it on the car. I'd still be interested in hearing from any other NEW BT Plate owners and their impressions......

    Hi RangerDavid,
Yep got my order in andl ooking forward to the install and the results.
When I first purchased my car I travelled 240 miles home on a motorway - experienced high winds and rain and the car was moving around quite a lot.
After reading the thread about the plate I decided my best action would be to install it.

I wish I could give everyone an exact date when our skid plate but we are probably looking at a minimum of 2-3 months away.

Maybe it is a set of mounts that can convert a chassis stiffening plate to a skid plate.... Sounds kind of complimentary....

Until the part is officially ready I don't want to give out too many clues. Let's just say that it enhances handling for the Prius. It will work in conjunction with our BT Tech stiffening plate and it will be priced very reasonably.

Well, how about answering whether the new part works with the front or rear suspension? Oh, and windstrings, we are one post away from 800. Care to take the honor?

My guess is it'll be something like Tom's rear brace. It may extend the stiffening further back, or it may be that cross-piece that braces the shocks.
