Well, you could be one of the ones who would contribute your OEM plate to those who needed a second plate for an alternative use (like snowshoes, or windchimes, or???).... Think about it... if enough owners traded their OEM plates in, they might be able to be used to make runways (kind of a throw-back to the WWII era airplane runway idea...) for airplanes to land on in un-improved third world countries.... Maybe someone could set-up a foundation that worked to bring the world closer together... on OEM Prius chassis plates....

Brian are you laughing hard enough that you are starting to hyper-ventilate?

Only 59 more posts to 900. Then we can set our sights on the magical 1,000 number.

I'm gonna guess he's "Not" laughing... he can correct me if I'm wrong, but on previous threads, Brian gets a bit sensitive about us making light of his plate.... I think he takes it very serious and has tried to make an excellent product and may have concerns that newbies will think its a joke when its not but is in fact a very cool product.......

Take a breath now!.... I'm ok.....

I enjoy a good laugh like everyone else!! :) :) I want to try to keep this thread OT though as there are a lot of people that read these posts and some may not know when we are just "playing" around.

I wasn't aware that we were making light of Brian's plate.... My comments were directed to alternative uses for the OEM plate.

I would be happy to buy an OEM Touring Edition plate and make use of it in my 2004.
If anyone out there has a touring edition plate they would like to get rid of please let me know.

Ironically, I airmailed my OEM plate into the nearest dumpster after I finished installing the TOM'S Rear Suspension Brace. However, hopefully others who have swapped out the OEM plate will have one to send along to you.

    Hello Andrew,

There is no difference between the touring edition OEM plate and a "standard" OEM plate, they are both the same.

Wow. So there is no difference between the standard plate and the touring plate?

I guess my eyes are just playing tricks on me. I had standard and touring models side by side at a dealership and I swore the touring edition was wider (front to rear). I guess a ruler would help. Also, some photos would be neat if anyone out there on the PriusChat has some free time and the two cars. :)

    Thanks.

The Touring edition has an approximately 1 inch longer rear spoiler fitted to the rear hatch. Other differences between standard and Touring edition Prius is the "tuned" suspension (shocks & springs) and 16 inch wheels (with different plastic wheel cover) and 195/55-16 tires of the Touring edition. Otherwise, the two cars are the same.

Since I had the BT Plate installed a few weeks ago, I finally got a chance to try it out. Not sure, speed might have something to do with it or not, but when a couple of 16 wheelers passed me this time, I did not feel that whoosh to the side as I have in the past. My next test was this long bumpy dirt road, last time that I was on it was a few months ago, and before I did the tire upgrade (TT's 195's). I definitely felt a difference...unfortunately, not sure where credit is due...tires or plate, or both? So, being a nice person that I am, I give them both due credit.
I am assured that money was well spent.
Have read here, the mention of...Tom's Rear Suspension Brace....where can I get more info. on this? Details. That might be my next project.

Try http://www.sigmaautomotive.com for the TOM'S Rear Suspension Brace. One thing you may want to consider is that the TOM'S Rear Suspension Brace and the BT Plate compete for mounting points; so, it is one or the other, not both. You might want to consider the TOM'S Front Suspension Braces (Upper and Lower) as your next project.

I'm sure everyone is just having fun and are so sure of the plate, that a little "making light" of its uses should be understood by everyone as jest.....

I too have had my share of fun.... however, if I remember right about 3 times Brian asked us to mellow a bit so newbies would realize this is a serious discussion and not just going crazy.

I totally understand noone means any harm nor are they making light since they own and are convinced themselves.....

    Just an image thing....

I have to admit that this thread can get a bit out of hand and funny all at the same time!! My only concern was that there are new people that visit this site and if they did not read this thread from the beginning, they would have no idea that we were simply having fun with it rather than making fun of it; BIG difference.

We seem to all be back on "track" now though!! :)

And what a relief that is! I haven't even bought the magic plate but, simply from reading all the glowing accounts of its value, I find that my unmodified Prius handles much better than it did before I started reading this topic. The more I read, the better the handling becomes. I notice it the moment I sit in the car. Also, curiously, the fillings in my teeth have all changed from the mercury amalgam to solid gold. And my arthritis is totally cured. I can hardly wait to see what surprising development tomorrow will bring.

Thats the really amusing part with the skeptics..... it almost seems like majic and snake oil to them since they can't get it down on paper exactly why it does what it does.......

I think that fact alone is what has made this thread so long
... its quite fun, challenging, satisfying, and yet mystifying and frustrating all at the same time so see something so simple do what it does.... I guess finding a weakness in a car and stategically placing strength in place of that weakness is key.

Many of us freak and go nuts and cannot trust something we cannot understand.... for those who feel they are that way..... I don't recommend falling in love.

I think Toyota is satified with the car for most drivers... but the prius crowd tends to be quite discriminating and that extra 10% "or whatever it is", really adds the edge that makes it all worth it to many.

Like I've posted in other posts, some folks would not notice it if you changed the tires to brand new racing tires or on the other extreme..., took away half of the suspension.

Yet others notice quite quickly of changes made..... whether intentionally, or something going wrong with the car.

We all are different... some are in tune with thier bodies and some aren't.. same with our cars.

Another 'on track' post. Have we met the page quota (of on track posts) for the next page?

    Brian (or Anyone):

I just received my plate today. Thank you.

Question: The two indented corners --- do they get installed toward the front or the rear of the car?

Thanks in advance for your response.

There are rumors that the plate is also a cure for ED....
