Quick Question: I was driving through my neighborhood yesterday and hit a pretty good bump. I as hit the brakes, a quick Yellow Triangle Light illuminated on my dash. There were no other warning lights that I could see and the warning light was only on for a split-second. Any ideas what could've caused this? BTW, I have a 2013 Prius LB 3 purchased new in August w/ only 1230 miles as of today...

Shouldn't Traction Control activate only when your foot is on the 'go' pedal? If it flashed while you were using the 'stop' pedal, it should mean Antilock Braking System or Vehicle Stability Control.

Great point Fuzzy1. I may go just have Toyota Service look at this when I go in for my checkup in a few weeks. I really appreciate the feedback gang!!!

    Cheers!

Hmm. I assumed it was the tracs/vehicle stability control system but reading through the owners manual now, it seems that is should have only been the one skid light and not the yellow exclamation. I thought they might have come on in tandem and you just didn't notice the smaller light. The traction control system and stability control share the same light.

There is a whole list of instances where the yellow exclamation may flash in the owners manual, but none of them have anything to do with traction/stability control.

    Any other thoughts?

Thanks for the insight. Honestly it happened so fast I didn't notice any other lights except for the yellow triangle. According to the owners manual, it should also display a reason for the yellow triangle in the Info Center too, but I didn't get anything. May just be a glitch, much like the constant resets of Display Audio w/ Entune, but that's another story altogether...

    Cheers!

I've had the exact same light go on yesterday when driving my 3 week old prius. The light came on after i hit a bump. I was breaking on the bump too so the car may have slipped and it must have triggered something.

Did either of you have your brake pedal sink to the ground during this episode?

Hi guys, this happened also to me after hard braking in the turn (dog on the road). I am sure it was the VSC and nothing else. however it was strange that the ABS did not engage (or I have not noticed it). Maybe the rear wheels slipped a bit as it was in the turn and there was no need for ABS.

Anyway, I think this is nothing to worry about and this is what it should do.

    Best Regards Andrej

Thanks for your posts gang! No mushy brake or fall to the floor for me. I haven't seen it since either, so I'm crossing my fingers for now...

    Cheers!

Not really traction controll also working when you break and really helps prevent both lock up and in case in turning you need "traction control" ... ABS IS traction control in my opinion ...that is why it may lights up in bumpy road breaking

I am not sure which light comes up when I think the ABS light would mean it is NOT working not that it is engaged ...

    I could be wrong .

On my previous toyota auris if the ABS light stayed on it meant the ABS was not working and was disengaged (this happened to me on a long downhil on snow in winter where the ABS was working for over 1 min withot break and the ECU turned it off. After the restart of the car everything was back to normal) However if it just blinked on during braking it meant that it is working and doing its job and the light was just informing you that it is doing its job at the moment.

    best regards

    Andrej

Just spoke to my toyota certified mech. He says one of the doors might not be closed correctly, for example maybe your rear door seal came off and its not closed. So when you hit a bump it open because the cars flex .... etc
