Looking to buy our daughter a Prius for graduation. We've looked at the 2015 model. Any advice? Should we? Vs a Corolla. She wants something with great gas mileage.

    welcome!
seeing that you haven't given us any info or parameters, i would say a corolla might be better. how do the prices compare, same year and mileage?

Welcome to PriusChat! I wrote something years ago on who should NOT buy a Prius, it has some specific Gen 2 (2004 - 2009) items but is still very relevant for non plug-ins. (Less so for Gen 4, (2016 - on) but you are looking at gen 3 (2010 - 2015))

    I hope this helps.

You may save money and have comparable $ per mile with the Corolla.

    But the jury's out?
Consumer Reports rates Prius as one of the cheapest cars to own.
Ex: change brakes at 150-200k. Very little brakes down. No transmission! Etc.

It is cheap to drive and gets few repairs.

I always recommend the 2012 or 2013. It will still last forever, and you won't pay extra for the new car smell.
