I just bought a Prius Prime in California and am waiting for my license plates to arrive so I can apply for a California Electric Vehicle sticker. I see on the sticker application form that it asks for my drivers license number. My primary residence is in a different state as is my drivers license. I'm only in California 4 months per year. Does anyone know if I can get the sticker?

This was possible in the past. Just put your DL number on the application.

Yeah, just try it. If it doesn't work, no biggie.

I guess my concern is that the form is marked to accept an 8 character drivers license number which is the standard in CA. My license is from NJ which has 15 characters in a license number. I can write the number in, ignoring the markings. But if the DMV uses scanning technology to read the form, it's not going to work.
