Out of all the parts on your vehicle, why would you choose to pick this esoteric part and save money to replace it? Your pump should last hundreds of thousands of miles.

I am genuinely interested why you have such interest on the water pump. Do you generally pick random components on cars to start savings accounts towards, or is this a new Prius thing?

I expect to replace parts on vehicles, but I have never picked a random part and planned to replace that one.

But what about your fuel pump, inverter coolant pump, your AC compressor, your two windshield washer pumps, etc?

Dang, So much to worry about...... Maybe you should save up for work on your worrying....

That has to be the most expensive water pump I have ever heard of -- by far.
I figured it was a mistake, but I found the same price at (another?) website. OTOH, most parts places I checked do not even bother to stock the part or put it into their catalog.

So I'll say the jury is out. In the meantime best to avoid letting the radiator run dry ;)

    Not at all.

BMW Water pumps are around $500 for just the part on the 1 and 3 series. Lots of pumps are expensive now. Of course others are still dirt cheap around $40.

I think the part number is 161A0-29015

Here is a website that seems to list the pump for either $237 or $418.

I admit it, now that my secret is out: I have never priced BMW parts.

When I had the gen2 prius, I replaced both inverter and engine water pump at 200k miles.

    Tank,
Even though they were still running quietly?
If so why? And how much did those cost?
    And why just those components?
A fuel pump leaves you stranded NOW.
