    UPDATE

    Jaafari refuses to step aside. Parliament won't be called into session until all important jobs have been apportioned. During this vacuum, other events, such as today's mosque bombing, may have consequences that will overshadow the political impasse.

    This gets uglier every few days, if that's possible.
