when sleeping in a Prius I’d like to power a (12 volt) top loading frig and a Cpap machine.

Would the 12v power come from the main vehicle battery, or the small auxiliary battery?

If its the small 12v auxiliary battery will the engine cycle on and off to recharge the small battery during the night, the way it cycles on and off for heat and air conditioning?

    Thanks

If you leave the car running in Ready the inverter will keep the 12v aux battery charged. Actually it won’t discharge in Ready since the inverter will supply all the 12v amps needed using the hv battery. The biggest problem is the engine will cycle more often than you might expect to keep the hv charge at a relatively low state. In other words, the engine won’t charge the hv battery to a full state. It will raise it slightly from a low state and then shutoff.
