What's the point of having a multi-information touchscreen that's subject to direct sunlight through the windshield? Owner is supposed to find some kind of shroud that goes between the CD slot and center vents? No room for that, plus it would block the vent air. I know it's a touchscreen and have to have it close but....

EX-L has a touchscreen and multi-info screen under dash hood to block sun. What's up with that Toyota?

    I agree with you here.
The funny thing is in development you would think that would be an aspect they would easily and obviously test. If they did or do? I guess they don't care.

The information screen on the Prius is absolutely useless on a bright summer day. I would have to call it poor design.

Have you tried adjusting the display controls?

The display brightness has nothing to do with the glare from the sun. You literally have to lean around the glare in order to read anything on the screen when the sun is just right...or wrong, depending on your point of view.

Hoods cost money. Hopefully someone will come up with a visor like the one that is available for the Gen II. I have one, it makes the world of difference!
A major improvement would be for Toyota to start using OLED displays. They are out there, they can be fully visible in direct sun, and cost a bundle!!! Oh ouch, that last one is why you will not see them, maybe in a Rolls, or other really expensive where it makes sense to have this type of display! $300 worth it!
OLED technology is coming down in price, the Nikon S-9500 has a OLED screen, nice! The wife has her heart and charge card set on one!
When she gets it, I will take a pic of a regular vs. OLED screen shot!

I found on my Prius c (somewhat counter-intuitively) that turning the contrast all the way down helped quite a bit.

Yep, I adjusted the contrast all the way down and the brightness all the way up.

Thanks El Dobro. It fixed the problem. That was an amazingly simple fix for a problem I've had for the last 8 months. This should be a sticky.
