Can I disable beep when hatch-back door is open?

    The other day I purchased a bedframe and had to leave the hatchback door slightly open. It beeped all the way home. Can this beep be temporarily disabled

    Welcome to PriusChat! Unless you plan to use your Prius to move large pieces of furniture in the future, I'm not sure exactly why you would want to disable what is in fact a safety feature! (Just IMNSHO) - Wil

    Not that large. I just want to disable it temporarily. Now I want to leave the hatchback door open so that my cat & I can sleep in the car. It's a long story. I am not crazy -- just an animal lover.

    Push something like a carabiner or a single chain link into the latch on the hatch opening sill, to mimic the hatch component that would be there if the hatch was actually closed. you can loop some twine through it to secure the hatch too.

    My Cat and I
    Girls are simply the prettiest things
    my cat and I believe
    and we're always saddened
    when it's time for them to leave

    We watch them titivating
    (that often takes a while)
    and though they keep us waiting
    my cat and I just smile

    We like to see them to the door
    say how sad it couldn't last
    then my cat and I go back inside
    and talk about the past
