Can I get tax rebates and credits if I buy a Plug-in?

Some dealers might offer that but I would rather do it myself precisely for those reasons. The form is available on the DMV website. The only issue is that you need to get your plates before you submit it, and there might be delays in getting that for an out of state car. But for me, that's not a huge concern.

Strictly speaking, you don't need to have the physical plates; what is required is that the DMV has assigned the plate number in its system, and you have somehow gotten that information from them.

I couldn't find anything about NJ giving so much as the time of day for buying a PIP. They do give exemptions for cars that Toyota doesn't offer for the public, like fuel cell cars.

 

I'm in the same boat. What about transferring title, etc?

 

Any particular reason you need to do this?
Regardless, registration/title transfers between family members are generally painless, but we can't really help you without knowing where you live at a minimum.

 

Sorry. New here. My post was meant to be a response to Jimmy who had his mother actually buy the car because she could use the non-refundable credits (if that's what they are).
