Can Smart System be installed on non-sks (base) Prius? If so, how and how much?

Also, for lock pick to work, do you have to have a specific MFD? My '04 base model Prius has what seems to be a basic display?

Since I cannot Google or find anything about this in the KB, I assume it cannot be done, but thought I would ask anyway.

    Thanks in advance!

while I'm not an authority on the matter I was reading the other day for different purposes about what they refer to as Controller area network basics, also known as CAN, your post title mislead me that there might be some usefull info here, in short is a network comon on most cars that permits components to comunicate http://www.ee.uidaho.edu/ee/classes/ECE341/refs/AN713%20-%20Controller%20Area%20Network%20(CAN)%20Basics.pdf read about it, sais there these design enables you to add components while not interfering with other systems, in theory it should work thou I dont think anybody bothered , the guys into plugin seemed knowledgeble about it goes with the teritory, good luck keep me posted

you guys talking about the smart key right? I have no Ideea what a lock pick is but I've seen it mentioned, I also believe the recever is driver rear by the traction batery, I'd check first to see if the wireing harness has plug for it.

interesting not something I'm personaly into but curious, my car does not have navigation least I dont think so, in some pics I seen theres 6 buttons arround the screen I only have 4, it would be nice to have a post that describes various trim levels so one like me can have an Idee what you have and what you could have, and weather there's a way to go about it, the nav fo example I think that's cool.

Exactly what I would like to know as I have only 4 basic buttons as well. I've seen pics of quite a few different MFD button layouts.

I called Coastaletech and they said they don't sell the LockPicks or any of their other Toyota products anymore, except EV Mode. Said they are, however, working on a universal SUPER LockPick and to check back around xmas.

That's too bad I was excited about turning my MFD into a TV Screen. But the news about them making a universal LockPick by Christmas sounds awesome! Yeah, My MFD is a base model, with only 4 buttons too.
